Marriages and alike
- Friendship rings
Suggestion:
Allow two or more players to get a friendship ring. The
ring was in most of the suggestions supposed to have the
same features as the marriage ring does (a channel to talk
to others).
Denied because:
We added marriage and have no intention to add anything
that (more or less) duplicates the idea. As far as channels
are concerned, we feel that players already have enough
access to public ways of communicating. Granted, most are
not private except for tell and tell costs mental. But that
is the way we wanted it to work and we don't plan on anything
that will add more free ways to (privately) talks to others.
- Same-sex marriages
Suggestion:
Allow two players of the same gender to get married.
Denied because:
The reason for denying this is somewhat complicated. In
no way do we intend to convey the message that marriage
between two people of the same gender would be a bad thing.
But because of the controversies surrounding the subject
and because it in fact is far, far removed from our medieval
theme, we feel these marriages should not be added. Within
MS everybody has full freedom as to their beliefs, but we
do not try to stir up things that in real life cause so
many (heated) arguments. That is not what this game was
intended for.
- Shared bank accounts
for married couples
Suggestion:
Married couples have several benefits. They share houses
and other things, why not also make their bank accounts
shared between them?
Denied because:
We feel this is too likely to cause problems in the future
(just like in RL *grin*), when people separate and one ends
up running away with all the money. Again, this is an issue
where we feel that it could only hurt the friendly atmosphere
we want to create. Besides, it is also a difficult issue
to deal with codewise.
