Hercyna Forest
Hercyna forest is forever autumn, yet looking up through the near-bare
branches you can always spot signs of spring... Fooled into imagining
hibernation, the forest creatures are always busy on the forest floor,
searching for nourishment and a comfortable hole. The usually timid deer,
small compared to most and a tawny-red colour, and the elusive badger are
both regularly spotted here; as is the tufted red squirrel, away from its
hiding place amidst the trees. This makes it a useful nature reserve for
those who wish to stay and observe the wildlife, but also a useful hunting
ground!
